Delay in endhiran shooting paved way for nanban: shankar

The audio launch of Nanban began soon after director Shankar, Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Sathyaraj, SJ Suryah, Na Muthukumar, Chinmayi, Yugabarathy, and others arrived at the venue. Mirchi Shiva hosted the show and had the audience in splits of laughter throughout.

The event began with a Belly Dance and the audiences were simply awes by this performance. Then followed the Aska Laska song from Nanban. This song is a potential chartbuster from Harris Jayaraj. Nanban’s first cut was screened at this event which had the Vijay fans go berserk with excitement.

SA Chandrasekar released the audio CD which was received by Prabhu.

Srikanth had some good words for his co-stars in Nanban. He said that Vijay, Jiiva and Sathyaraj have done an excellent job and fans will get to know this when they see the film.

SJ Suryah praised director Shankar for his hard work. It was evident through his speech that he enjoyed working with director Shankar.

When Jiiva’s turn to speak came, he lauded Vijay for his humbleness. The star said that the Ilayathalapathy awes everyone with this humility despite his massive success. About director Shankar, Jiiva said that he is the coolest one in the business who never gets tensed.

Vijay’s sheer presence on the stage had the audiences shouting and this exhilaration was topped up with some wonderful fireworks.

Vijay said that though he was born in Chennai, he has mastered the Coimbatore dialect. This earned him a loud applause. Speaking about director Shankar, Vijay said that he is the Indian Spielberg. He also had some kind words for his co-stars. Srikanth has acted well and Jiiva is responsible for keeping the shooting spot lively, said Vijay. “I’ve made good friends by acting in this film,” Ilayathalapathy said. He took the opportunity to praise Sathyaraj and SJ Suryah and thanked Shankar for giving him the role.

The star then sang the Yedho Unnale song. When he was about to leave the stage, Vijay was honored with a huge garland and crown.

On how he decided to remake the 3 Idiots, Shankar said that when the shooting of Endhiran was delayed one day, he happened to see 3 Idiots. That is how this film got made, said Shankar.

He added that after Rajinikanth it is Vijay who arrives on the sets on time. Speaking about Vijay’s characterization, Shankar said that Vijay is a likeable person till now but after seeing the film there is no one who will dislike him.

Shankar revealed that when he offered a role in Endhiran to SJ Suryah, he refused it. But for Nanban he grabbed it almost immediately because that role is so meaty.

SA Chandrsekar came on stage to laud his erstwhile assistant Shankar. He said that it is a great feeling to see his student make it so big.

With his speech, the function came to an end.
