Casonova Review

Casonova the big budget film that made Malayalam movie goers wait desperately for long has finally been released, but fails to make the necessary noise. The movie is shot in exotic locations in Dubai and is true to its name (Casonova). Mohanlal who plays the title role is a rich businessman who always has the choicest of dames. Though the actor comes in a variety of costume yet one still wonders why the actor agreed to do the role.

The movie picks up heat when Mr Casonova arrives in Dubai. This is the time when the Interpol is looking out for four men who were involved in a string of robberies. The plot unveils when Casonova tries to settle scores with the four men that the cops are after. Taking the advantage of a reality show that is failing miserably in the TRP ratings, Casonova gives it a new name ‘Fall in Love’ and traps two of the four where they fall for pretty babies Hanna (Lakshmi Rai) and Anne Mary (Roma). But what is the story behind this is revealed much later when the Casonova talks about his romance with Sameera Zacharia (Shriya Saran) who is a salsa dance teacher.

The script by Bobby and Sanjay does not fill the gaps in the movie. The music also fails miserably despite three composers, Alphonse, Gopi Sunder and Gowri. The only watchable factor is the breathtaking locations and the stunning ladies who come and go every now and then.

Casonova could have been more novel.
